Subordinate players, a good idea ? From: "Russell Wiltshire" <russell.wiltshire@virgin.net> Date: Tue, 01 Jul 1997 00:00:00 +0000 I'm currently developing a pbm game and I would appreciate a bit of feedback on the following issue: is it a good idea to design the system such that players that aren't doing so well can become allied to a dominant player, who can help them out. The subordinate players could then break off and go it alone if and when they manage their nations well enough to be able to do so. I am thinking this may be a solution to the problem of players dropping out of a game once they fall behind the "big guys". At present I intend my game to be open-ended, so there would be plenty of time for players to gain power and eventually become dominant. In fact, all nations would probably go through troublesome periods and therefore have to maintain some alliances so they could live to fight another day. Isn't that what politics is all about anyway ? Opinions please... Russ. Referenced By Up
