Sounds like Smuggler's Run. You play a character with a single ship,
scoot
around the Galaxy buying goods (legal and illegal) trying to avoid
customs
or pirates (or hunting them if you got the firepower), and trying for
the
top 10 list in reputation or wealth. There is no real graphics (other
than
the picutres on the web site), play is exclusively by e-mail and
computer
moderated, turns run twice weekly at $2 per turn.

It is mostly a solitair type game with little in the way of player
interaction. It is a little more interesting than a pure computer game
in that it does have player competition and is constantly evolving
in response to player suggestions.
