And you probably want to stop sometime, maybe land too. And the spaceship may need to protect the cargo against radiation and such. Galaxy spaceships do not behave like real spacships though. They move through "hyperspace". "Hyperspace" is invented for convenience, it is unrealistic and not at all like real space. It is still a fun game though. Galaxy-style hyperspace works so that a ship will move with constant speed from one star to another. The speed depends only on engine quality and the total mass of the ship (including the mass of cargo and the mass of the engine itself). Helge Hafting Up
