Even more on the ads thread From: phy3dxl3@sun1.bham.ac.uk (Mr D Lovett) Date: Tue, 22 Jul 1997 00:00:00 +0000 graeme@discreet.co.uk wrote: >The "majority" were quite obviously new to Usenet (this isn't a criticism) >because they didn't know not to post votes (the reasons why this is wrong >were well documented by another post) Well i read just about every post that appears on my news server for this group, but i did not see that post. This is not intended to be an attack on lindahl, but if we outlaw ads, or even just repetition of ads on the premise that we should go and look at his pbm list, then we are relying too much on one person for this group to function. What if greg decides tommorow, to sell up, shave his head and head for Tibet ? This is somewhat exaggerating the point, but i do not feel we should make this group reliant on non-usenet facilities, eg the web, or reliant on any number of individuals, which is what the directions looks like to me. My opinion, is either we form an ads group, or we allow unrestricted (within common sense) advertising on this group. Daniel Lovett. Referenced By Up
