USS Destiny Star Trek PBeM From: dave2@mindless.com Date: Fri, 22 Aug 1997 00:00:00 +0000 Thank you for requesting information about the USS Destiny PBeM (play by e-mail) game. If this FAQ dosen't answer your questions, feel free to write the GameMaster (GM) at dave2@mindless.com. I. What is The USS Destiny PBeM? The USS Destiny PBeM is a RPG played via e-mail. There is no cost to play. Players create characters and carry out actions with these characters in accordance with the current plot. In simple terms this means that you (the player) make your guy (your character) react and respond to the situation put against you and the rest of the crew. For example: ::Ens. Jones scans his TAC station.:: [Ens. Jones] "Sir, incoming Romulan vessel...on an interpect course." [Captain Smith] "Red alert! Shields up. Ens. Jones, ready weapons await my order to fire." II. Is this like AD&D? Do I have to develop stats for my character? No! All areas of the game that would normally use stats are all taken care of by the GM. He figures what you can and can't do. (More on this later.) III. What will be expected of me as a player? You will be expected to post your character's actions at LEAST every other day. (Every day if you are a department head.) Even if it is just a personal log or some miniscule task, you need to post SOMETHING. The game is as fast as the slowest player. You will also be expected to know some Star Trek terminology. IV: How am I rewarded for being a good player? Your chacter will be promoted if the GM and other senior officers feel you are doing a good job. If the GM likes your stuff, (you post every other day, you make good ideas or points, etc..), he will e-mail the department heads and they will vote on your promotion. If the GM feels you are being unfairly voted apon, he does have the right to promote you no matter what. When you are promoted, you will have more privliges, duty, authority, etc.. V: What positions can I apply for? Right now, you may apply for: First Officer Security/Tactical Officer Engineering Officer Science Officer Medical Officer Helm Councellor VI: I want to be a department head, though. The GM will pick department heads after the game is in progress. This will alloy his to see who is going to be an active player, etc.. EVERYONE except the XO will start out as an ENSIGN. There will be no exceptions to this rule. VII: How do I determine the results of my characters actions? Simple! All you have to do is put <<RESULTS>> at the end of your action. The GM or current Mission Master will give the results. VIII: This sould cool, how do I join? Again, simple!
