I'm halfway through my second season, and thought it good enough to keep playing despite it being stood for over two years for a rewrite. Based on the NFL. Full rosters, with coaching to improve individual and team stats, injuries, a 6 round annual draft (great day out!), and trading, including future draft picks. Four preseason, sixteen regular season games and the playoffs - if you're up to it. Multiple offense and defense formations, including a backup defence in case the primary is hopeless against the opponents offense. The playbook is 4 regular runs + reverse, pass short, med or long, with the carriers/receivers selected on a percentage basis for each option (so, for example I can have my fullback running most of the inside rushes and my halfback most of the outside). Results are laser printed, and turnround is reliable, with deadlines roughly every two weeks. Nick Barnett, the GM, is expanding my league from 28 to 30 teams (Panthers and Jaguars being added) at the end of this year, and is setting up a new league, PAFL 5, so there should be vacancies. I've also played Gameplan, with Peter Calcraft, but that was many years ago, too many for me to comment about it now, except to say PAFL is better than Gameplan *was*, but I know the Gameplan has been expanded and improved since I last played. It's being run by other gm's these days. Maybe someone else can fill us in? Sideline comment: I've seen another 3 US football pbm's, which I havn't tried, but like the above, they were all British. Anyone know of a US design? -- Andy (in England) Up
