Period. Other mailing lists may have different subscription procedures. The exact quote from my FAQ is: "To join a list, you usually send email to the server with the single unquoted word 'subscribe' in the body of your message (some lists may have different procedures)." Note the caveat in parentheses! The instructions in Greg's FAQ for joining mailing lists are no better and in some cases worse than my instructions, e.g.,: DM (Duelmasters) -- write dm-request@cumbnd.bioc.columbia.edu Kingdoms -- write kingdoms-digest-request@netcom.com Write to these addresses and then what? Put 'subscribe' in the email? Put 'help' in the email? Put nothing in the email? I sent email to 'kingdoms-digest-request@netcom.com', hoping to subscribe to the Kingdoms mailing list. I received a note from the netcom.com server telling me that there is no such address as 'kingdoms-digest-request@netcom.com.' Maybe it's time for Greg to update the information in his FAQ? Here's the error message from netcom.com: ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- urizen (expanded from: <kingdoms-digest-request@netcom.com>) ----- Transcript of session follows ----- 550 urizen... User unknown If Greg wants to snipe at FAQs he should be prepared to defend his "I read German. Do I win a prize?" topic. <G> Ken Mitchell Ken Mitchell Ken Mitchell Graphics The PBM Report The New PBM FAQ Referenced By Up
