Opening for A&A Variant PBEM game: 1984 From: neilmcarr@aol.com (NeilMCarr) Date: Fri, 17 Oct 1997 00:00:00 +0000 I'm facilitating a PBEM game that is a variant of Axis and Allies by Milton Bradley. The variant focuses on an Orwellian alternative historical setting where seven players vie for world domination. You can check out the game at: http://members.aol.com/cheekylads/pbem/1984.htm If you are interested in trying out the game, there is one opeing left to be filled. This is for the Allies player (the blue areas on the map). Before you jump for the spot you should know some things about the game. The game has never been playtested, I just came up with some game elements that I would like to try out, pasted them together as thoughtfully as possible and showed it to my friends from all over the country. They thought it was cool so we are going ahead with the game. Imbalances and bugs will inevitably crop up in the game, we'll just have to see what happens. Further, there is no impartial moderator in the game. I will be facilitating the game by posting the updated maps on my web page, but I'm a player just like everyone else. I've set up the game so that there is no need for a moderator, and we have been playing a game of A&A like this for over a year and it has worked out fine. You'll need a copy of A&A 2nd edition rules to refer to for those sticky occations, and there are modifed rules for the variant on my web page. Lastly, the tone of the players involved. Everyone playing has some kind of social connection radiating away from me, that is, they are either a friend of mine, or they are a friend of a friend of mine. We are opening up this spot to the public because other friends of ours that would like to play can't at the moment. We play the game in a casual way, so anxious or anal people may have some difficulties with people's paces. We have spent a year playing a game of A&A to give you an idea of turnover. We really try and make the game as relaxed as if we are all sitting around the table for an evening of play. If conflicts occur we try and fix them as resonably as possible and if that doesn't work then we take a vote. If this sounds like something that might interest you and are willing to commit to the length of the game and reliable with your turns then we would love to have for the game. I'll be out of town for the weekend but when I get back I'll let you know if you've got the spot.
