New Blind Galaxy Game Starting From: bampton@interlego.cs.utk.edu (Howard the Energizer) Date: Wed, 05 Nov 1997 00:00:00 +0000 I will be starting one Blind Galaxy game shortly (turn 0 reports will go out on the 10th of November 1997). See: http://www.cs.utk.edu/~bampton/blind.html http://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/pbm.html http://www.jacobean.demon.co.uk/gtrav.htm for details about what Blind Galaxy is, as well as the currently released rules and source code. This game will be using my newest code (2.47 beta) with all the usual options (K commands, Partial techs, password support). It will have my typical double bind forwarding system and forecaster. I will not be playing in the game. This game will run two turns per week. There will be about 30 players (I hope!), and 400-500 systems. New and experienced players are welcome. I've already got around 25 players, with a mixture of new and experienced ones. Notes: Blind Galaxy reports are different than most other galaxy variations. Most tools won't like them without some modification. Goggle, and GalaxyTV are known to not work (http://home.att.net/~salamon/galaxy.html has a mac client?) There will be no more than 3 players per site, 2 if the game has fewer than 20 players (Exception: large ISP's such as Netcom might be allowed to exceed this). There are obvious ways to get around this, but please honor the spirit. Turns will run on Tuesdays and Fridays, around 8AM Eastern USA time. This is 13:00 GMT for those more accustomed to that time zone. This game is expected to last at least a year, and will run about 50 weeks and (90ish turns) out of the year. I will probably start a slow game in the next few months. It will be announced in rec.games.pbm, as well as being drawn from Graeme Griffiths' waiting list. I do not keep a waiting list for players wanting to get into my new games. All players will get a copy of the rules, directions for my server, etc. To sign up, please mail me (one player per message), your choice of empire name, and an email @ to send reports to (if different than the sending one). For rules, sourcecode, tools, etc, please check: http://www.cs.utk.edu http://www.indyramp.com/galaxy/ http://www.pbm.com/~lindahl/pbm.html -- $1000 plus $1 per byte fee for proofing commercial mail sent to me.
