Understandable. I was lucky... a friend of mine ran the first game
I played privately :-)

There are two sides to having a Galaxy game run. On one hand, we need
some kind, caring soul, preferably a UNIX (not DOS, not Mac) guru,
who can set up the "engine" of the game... the special computer
program that takes in orders vis email from everywhere in the world,
and then, at a specified time, run all of the orders at once and
see what happens.

The second part, we need some players to actually send in the orders...
this bit seems to be easier, as there a lot more players than GMs.

The advice already on this ng re joining games is good. You should also
keep in mind that there are several "flavours" of Galaxy (like... ummm..
Dungeons and Dragons). They are Standard (The original), Blind
(differing
mainly in that it is very difficult to see what the other players are up
to) and GalaxyNG (Next generation... some minor but interesting
differences from Standard). St present I am playing several GalaxyNG,
one standard and have dropped from my Blind game (sorry Howard the
Energiser).

Looking through some recent posts to rgp, I think this may be the
ideal game for you to start your Galaxy playing careers:

So, do as said above, and you may be playing in your very onw game of
Galaxy.

PS If you're using a PC, you really should get a copy of
Tim Hughes' rather excellent utility for Galaxy called
GalaxyTV. I have made do with spreadsheets and calculators
in the past, but compared to this tool, they suck :-)
