Atlantis 3.0: Times 73 From: Geoff Dunbar <gdunbar@atlantis.prankster.com> Date: Sun, 16 Nov 1997 00:00:00 +0000 Subject: Atlantis 3.0: Times 73 Atlantis 3.0 Times January, 7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Email admin30@prankster.com with game issues. If the souther border continues to stabalize, it might be possible to turn the attention of the Clan elsewhere. And train and equip the Cohorts so that future battles would not see them so ill supplied and supported, despite the generous support of the Alliance. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Chosen of Cthulhu (40): Oswald yawned over his morning coffee in Aunties Kitchen. He and all the uncle mages were safely back in Riggenthorpe. The last six months had been quite hectic destroying around 15,000 well trained 70's men in the heart of their territory. Twelve 70's cities and a couple of towns are now either in uncle hands or pillaged and deserted. The enviornmentalists say that makes a perfect habitat for the dozen balrogs that were released. Unfortunately enviornmentalists were too eager to relase the nearly extinct beasts. Now they are afraid they have released too many into too small an area. They've already proposed opening the area to all factions and making it into a big game hunting park. Not only will that reduce the balrog population the balrogs can eat the less well prepared hunting parties. Rastlin smacks, Oswald on the back. "Hey, good work. I hear your assassins took out the last of the 70's tactitions in Locarno and Bastak allowing the fleet to take both without any losses." Oswald shrugs, "Whats a couple thouand more dead 70's? We'll never kill them all they're too spread out." Rastlin takes the seat next to Oswald and starts on his own breakfast. "Well a balorg did kill another of the 70's mages. Looks like his orders didn't specifiy he should avoid combat." Looking around Rastlin and says, "Where's Sun Tzu?" "I'm afraid he stayed behind. I think he has a death wish same as Rommel had. Last I saw him he was muttering something about creating a challenge for himself." *** >From last weeks times ] -Life out in the boonies has it's advantages but not having a whole lot ] happen can be incredibly boring. ] -For those factions who think that all 200 of us are actually interested ] in those 4 page battle reports that are posted in the times, you are ] wrong. I will have to except the one posted by The Megolomantic Midgets ] last turn. I do not know of the factions but it was amusing. Pick an answer 1) For being so incredibly bored out in the boonies one would think a few battle reports would be intresting. 2) Naturally all Atlantis factions aren't intrested in the all the times postings. There is an order option called NOTIMES. Use it. 3) Identify your faction name and I'll make things intresting for you. 4) Here is a most amusing battle. I assume that the below is a stealth-5 mage that can cast invisiblity and several DBOW assassins. No doubt they were after uncle's mages. I just wonder why Mountainmen wasnt able to send more to protect their 3 mages (and I do think 3 mages is a lot - being nearly half a magic-faction). So, you really should forward the question to your allies ! Furthermore, Fist of the white Lotus is a bit rhetoric here, its no big deal to buy 2000 troops, but it takes some time and effort to equip them with weapons, proper training and 16 galleons. I will be sad when I loose an army-group like that, and Im happy when I can incur this kind of loss on my enemy. Its not very decent to make fool of ones allies effort - especially not if you go on telling the world about your own richness and strength. I didnt send in my battlereport just to brag, (well there was an element of that too ;-] ), I wanted all of GALE to know what Mountainmen where doing, wasting resources GALE could have put to better use. (And I send my thanks to they guy exepting my times-article from his general complaint about battlereports in last weeks Times). Which leads to my (nearly) final remark, Fist of the white Lotus buys 1117 High elves + 435 plainsmen, men that cant become more than level 2 in any martial arts. Looks like large buys of quantity at the front - the kind of troops you buy when your core army have become too slim, maybe Nameless arent doing as bad as you say... And lastly (I dont seems to able to stop do I ?) Why not complain about UNCLE's pagelong reoccuring battlereports in Times instead, they dont seem to think of 2000 as a lower limit. Last week they thought we should see battlereports with loses below 200 ! Actually I dont mind them doing that, Times is too dead already after the strange idea of making 50$ a permanent reward for nothing. All articles are welcome, even those braging about my defeats ! >Fist of the White Lotus (4): > > > A member of the 70s bandied about the number of 2000 men last week as if it > was a lot of men.
