[PBEM: Witchcraft/Kult] Through a Mirror Darkly From: Yuri T Chaosmage <yuri@coram.ne.mediaone.net> Date: Wed, 19 Nov 1997 00:00:00 +0000 I recently posted the following to the bulletin boards at www.pbem.com, and decided to post here as well to try to find more people who might be interested, but who don't regularly check pbem.com. The web page referenced below says to send complete character concepts to me if you're interested in playing, but what would be even better is for anyone who is interested to send me a brief note expressing your interest first, and then we can work together on completing a character write-up. All replies to witchcraft@coram.ne.mediaone.net, please. -- Kevin Coram -- http://coram.ne.mediaone.net/~yuri/RPG/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ A bus driver finishes off his cup of coffee and heads out of the station's bar toward his waiting bus, to start his route. He mutters grumpily about the thick fog that descends as he steps foot outside. His complaints cut off in a muffled shriek, then silence. An old Catholic priest waits impatiently outside his Cathedral for his bus. Finally, it arrives and he starts on. With a gasp akin to fear, he freezes at the opened doors, to stare at the bus driver and his much-too-quiet passengers. Stepping back without boarding, he fumbles for a quarter for the nearby pay phone as the doors close and the bus continues on its route. Officer Fitzhugh's knuckles turn white from his death grip on the steering wheel of his patrol car. Playing chicken with a runaway bus was never his idea of a good time. After an eternity, he manages to force the larger vehicle into a dead-end alley. He radios for backup, and dispatch promises to try, but with cutbacks and all....he's on his own. Taking a deep breath, he draws his gun and darts from his car. The alley echoes with the muffled sound of a body hitting steel. Fitzhugh winces, trying to ignore the pain in his shoulder from slamming himself so fast to the side of the bus. Finding the back door ajar, he slips in and, kneeling on the steps to the back door, takes aim at the bus driver's head, shouting "Freeze!" After several moments of utter silence, the dampness on his knees makes him glance down. He staggers back out of the bus, vomiting violently. He had never known what a River of Blood was, until he found himself kneeling in one. The mortician was weary to the bone. Twelve bodies, all of them mutilated. He had barely been able to identify that that poor little girl had sandy blonde hair, she was so messed up. The only one not cut up was the driver, the one the Boston Transit people want to see and identify. Pulling open the steel drawer, he begins, "Here you are, gent......" He trails off; the drawer is empty and he knows, he KNOWS, no one took the body out once he had placed it there. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello! I'm looking for a few excellent role-players to complete the cast for my PbEM blend of Witchcraft and Kult. Character creation and general mechanics are pure Witchcraft, but I borrow heavily from Kult to make the universe even darker. Familiarity with Witchcraft and/or Kult is not a requirement. Check out my web page at http://coram.ne.mediaone.net/~yuri/RPG/ for information about the game systems, for logs of previous games I've run, and for what sort of characters I need for this PbEM. Up
