Monster Island News and Information From: casbahcarl@aol.com (CasbahCarl) Date: Wed, 26 Nov 1997 00:00:00 +0000 This message has a couple of items on Web sites and such. I'm writing this message just before I leave work for a few days. We Americans are celebrating Thanksgiving tomorrow, a national holiday where we give thanks that a long time ago a few Brits survived one of our nasty New England winters. Anyway, I digress. My personal MI Web site has gone through yet another transformation. It's now the official repository (<not> suppository!) of the "Monster Island Herald", the :::taking a deep breath::: ABM-published and ABM-distributed player-produced newsletter for Monster Island players in these United States of God-Bless America. :) The Web site has some special links and pages on resources for players anywhere who'd like to write Monster Island-based fiction. If you'd like to take a look, it's at <A HREF="http://users.aol.com/casbahcarl/MIhome.html">http://users.aol.com/ca sbahcarl/MIhome.html</A> Past editions of the newsletter can be downloaded and read (using the free Adobe reader). I beg pardon for the self-promotion, but I'd like to point out that in one year of existence, my MI Web site clocked over 5,000 visits! Currently, I'm seeing about 200 visits per month. The second item I wanted to mention is that I've created a Webring for top-level Monster Island Websites. Participating Web sites must have some pages or items of general, game-wide interest. So far, I've got Mark O'English's Zargnoth page on there, William Kidda's Monster Mapper page, Larry Barrows' statistics Hall of Fame page (which, incidentally, has no British monsters listed--not tough enough, I guess <g> ), and my own Herald page. ABM has committed to joining us, and I've invited a few others ing.org/cgi-bin/webring?ring=monsterisland;list">http://www.webring.org/cg i-bin/webring?ring=monsterisland;list</A> For more information on the Monster Island Webring, just follow this link to <A HREF="http://users.aol.com/casbahcarl/MIring.html">http://users.aol.com/ca sbahcarl/MIring.html</A> Thanks! :) Incidentally, I'm coming up on five years of Monster Island gameplay! December's my anniversary. Puh-lease <don't> tell my wife how much money I've spent on the game over the years. She would definitely take a Spiked Club to me and the Lightning bolts would be flying in our house! ;) Well, 'nuff said. Happy Turkey Day, y'all!
