Atlantis 3.0: Times 76 From: Geoff Dunbar <gdunbar@atlantis.prankster.com> Date: Sun, 07 Dec 1997 00:00:00 +0000 Subject: Atlantis 3.0: Times 76 Atlantis 3.0 Times April, 7 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Email admin30@prankster.com with game issues. Visit http://www.prankster.com (or email atlantis@prankster.com) for information or to join. I think I've caught up with all payments and email from the last couple of weeks. If I missed something, please let me know! There will be a one week delay for one of the turns over the Christmas holidays; I haven't worked out which one turn yet, though. Stay tuned! There was an error in the spell description for Portal Lore. If you have that spell, please issue a SHOW order to get the description of the spell again. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Grey Wolf Clan (78): > (The Grey Wolf Clan need not fear that we'd forget to carry on killing > them though... that's one purpose which we *will* be carrying forward > into future plans.) If what you've been doing the past several turns is what you call "killing the Grey Wolf Clan" then I hope it continues. Actually I have good and bad news for you. The good news is the DDT declares that it is no longer at war with the Priests of Muldoon (79). The bad news is that we are instead declaring war against the Rock Guardians (79). And in order to fully drive this point home, we will be sacking Derwent this turn. Pretty sneaky, Sis! Captain Calis Grey Wolf Clan (78) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Clan Myhkul (347): The Clan had expanded greatly. Now if faced a desicion. It can not longer fund the research of all three Mages and the expansion of its forces. Lands await, but so do the wonders of new magical discoveries. Both cannot be pursued with all the might of the Clan. Sadly one must become a minor interest as the Clan achieves it destiny in the other. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Chosen of Cthulhu (40): Several months ago Pedron Niall floated invisibly into Turia on a magic carpet. Turia, a city full of 70's refugees fleeing from uncle's balrogs. Floating higher he scaned for the best place to create it and found a nice spot between the harbor and the half completed magical fortress. Pedron guided his carpet down and landed in the clear spot. Looking around he saw a nice wide path into the city from here and another down to the harbor, plus plenty of clear space all around. Yes, this spot will do nicely he thought. He concentraited, gathering his magical energies. He raised his arm and with a flinging motion a ball of energy only another mage could see flew striking the very fabric of reality and tearing a hole in it. Almost drained of magical energies Pedron struggled to stablize the hole and keep it from closing. *** Last month a mild mannered hill dwarf of faction Wiz hard or die sat in field near Turia. He missed the high slopes and cold winter of the mountains and needed to get way from the press of humans and elves in the city. He came to this field often to lie in grass, relax, and soak up the some sun. His eyes closed he felt a shadow passover him. It was too quick for a cloud. A winged horse? or perhaps it was a balloon? He opened his eyes squinting against the sun just as a large winged shape passed over. Fear gripped him sending a shiver down his spine all the way to his toes. That was no winged horse, it was much too large and the wings were too angular. Dragon! Here? Sitting up he saw his worst nightmare come to life. Dragons and balrogs were pouring into field from a hole floating just off the ground. No doubt the hole lead straight to hell itself. On hands and knees he crawled as quickly as he could back towards the city. He never felt the dragon fire that killed him. The lower numbered factions need to get a perspective; yes we know that you are all powerful, think you can take on anyone, anywhere....whatever, who cares. The anonymous one(s) obviously must know the old saying: If you are looking for trouble than you will probably find it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ To whoever is destroying my faction Monks-hood (285): Congratulations! You have qualified for the Mindless Violence Award of the Week! Yeah, it takes *real* guts to wipe out a tiny faction which has barely started. Especially if you've been given all your units by a previous player. You can now rest secure in the knowledge that my huge ex-army of 200 C2 troops will no longer be a threat to you! Ra ra ra! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ BRD Industries (155): Assassins are here. The lights go out. Say goodbye to colorful names and unit descriptions Say hello to mind-numbing lists of Unit Unit Unit Unit Unit Unit Unit Yecch! Who has built the biggest city in Atlantis? I have this one (I show you mine, now show me yours). :) plain (xxx, xxx) in Lybster, contains Ellon [city], 3800 peasants (high elves), $34200. ------------------------------------------------------------ The weather was clear last month; it will be clear next month. Wages: $19 (Max: $14440). Anyone have a city with more than 6000 population (wow!)? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Chronicles of The Tribe A decision was made: We are going full trade. The CEOS had finally overthrown the mages. This is the beginning of a new era for the Tribe, an era of greed and capitalism. Gee, that sounds bad, doesn't it??? Paulo, Parrot-Man of The Tribe (123) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ The Grand Assembly of Learned Elders (GALE) Nice fleet, Nameless! I guess it's 95% equipment from our last attempt at Sinan.. I think I recognize the ships too.. Thanks for bringing them back to us! We've been missing them. But it's a lot of garbage on them, that's impolite! Shame on you! I guess we just have to clean them up ourselves then. If you have any questions about GALE or if you're interested in joining the largest and most resourceful alliance in Atlantis, please contact me at m96thd@student.tdb.uu.se. Tomaz Roses On White Lace (91) GALE Grand Elder ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Please Geoff produce a grafical interface or some tools to make the turn sort quicker !!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ah, Gilles do you have any fives? Ah, no Sven, go Fish. Ah, Gilles do you have any Queens? Ah, no Sven, go Fish. Ah, Gilles do you have any jacks? Yes Sven, her you go. Why is it that you always win this games? I don't know, but I sure like it. :) -'Da Fish ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Has the Great Exodus begun? Many starting factions have become bored and are dropping out. Geoff - any thoughts on A4? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ I think I may be right in saying (on behalf of lots of players) that with something that goes on week after week after week (a year & half now) like Atlantis, that some weeks are just a mad dash through an orders template late Sunday night tweeking all the easy fixes - whereas some weeks start Monday night with a slow consideration of each area and a long term plan for how it's going to proceed in the future. Personally, most weeks are a strange mix of both methods - starting out with a slow but carefull look at the turn, followed by a quick dash after 10pm Sunday night when time starts running out. (Disclaimer - sending your orders after 10pm local time on Sunday can be a very bad idea in some time zones.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Up
