Before I had the GalaxyTV program, I developed some math tools, in order to solve some problems with the planetary production. Perhaps it's too late. However, here they are. Perhaps somebody could find it interesting. Variable definitions: -------------------- S= Planet size P= Population I= Industry i= Natural Resources attribute t= time (number of turns) m= materials available Now, some formulas ( according to standard rules ) -------------------------------------------------- pp (production points) = I + (P-I)/4 CAP (CAP produced or industry increment) = (m + pp * i) / (5i + 1), [m<=pp/5] M ( Maximum of mass production ) = ( m + pp * i ) / ( 10i + 1 ), [m<=pp/10] Now, some examples: ------------------ Planet:HOMEWORLD S= 1000 pp = 1000 + ( 1000 - 1000 ) / 4 = 1000 P= 1000 I= 1000 CAP= (0+1000*10)/(5*10+1)= 196.07 i= 10 m= 0 M = (0+1000*10)/(10*10+1)= 99.01 Planet: ARRAKIS S= 604.59 pp = 604.59 + ( 604.59 - 604.59 ) / 4 = 604.59 P= 604.59 I= 604.59 CAP= (0 + 604.59 * 0.43 )/( 5 * 0.43 + 1)= 82.53 i= 0.43 m= 0.00 M = (0 + 604.59 * 0.43 )/(10 * 0.43 + 1)= 49.05 However, with available materials: Planet:HOMEWORLD m=200 (pp/5)...............CAP= 200 m=100 (pp/10)............. M= 100 Planet:ARRAKIS m=120.92 (pp/5)...................CAP= 120.92 m= 60.46 (pp/10)................. M= 60.46 So, we can see the relationship between Natural Resources and Production. Of course, we all know that shipping MAT to planets with poor resources is very productive; but, what's really a poor planet ? If you don't want to think too much, ship MAT to planets with i<1. But if you wish to know how much production is lost every turn because of materials shortage, here are the formulas: Lost CAP = pp / ( 25i + 5 ) Lost CAP % = 100 / ( 5i + 1 ) Lost Mass= pp / (100i + 10 ) Lost Mass% = 100 / ( 10i + 1 ) Planet:HOMEWORLD Lost CAP = 3.92 Lost CAP% = 1.96 % Lost Mass= 0.99 Lost Mass% = 0.99 % Planet:ARRAKIS Lost CAP = 38.37 Lost CAP% = 31.77 % Lost Mass= 11.41 Lost Mass% = 18.87 % Planet:CALADAN pp=925.16 i= 0.11 Lost CAP = 119.38 Lost CAP% = 64.52 % Lost Mass= 44.06 Lost Mass% = 47.62 % Yes. This is a VERY poor planet. So you know: if you wish to industrialize it fully before the game ends...ship MAT there, old friend ! Referenced By Up
