New sf PBeM -"Sector: Antaris" - players sought. From: "S.Newman" <S.T.Newman@shef.ac.uk> Date: Thu, 15 Jan 1998 00:00:00 +0000 I'm seeking players for a soon-to-start PBEM, the WWW page is at: http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Dungeon/5955/antaris.html Or e-mail me and I'll send you the background in Write format (22K). Introduction. This is a space opera PBEM game set in the year 5100 AD, in a universe of my own devising (but owing a fair bit to Star Trek, Star Wars etc, natch.) The PCs are the crew of a Baltimore-class modified yacht; a small but fast and powerful ship, employed by the Miletos Survey Corporation to chart the rim worlds of the Arrarat subsector, Sector Antaris. The following crew positions are available: 1.Captain*. This PC gets to name the ship! 2.Pilot/Navigation Officer*. 3.Engineering/Maintenance Officer. 4.Contact/Survey Specialist*. 5.Security Officer. 6.Medical/Biology Officer. *These three positions are particularly recommended for players familiar with Traveller's Universal Planetary Profile (UPP) system, which will be used in this game. The game will emphasise good roleplaying, character interaction (both PC to NPC, and between PCs), and a willingness to contribute. It may include 'adult' language and themes. While it will use a system based on Traveller (a mix of Classic & New Era), the game will be played freeform, ie no dice-rolling references during play. Players will have as free as possible a hand in creating their own characters; if you own Traveller (any version) you can use it to generate a character, I'll add/delete skills as necessary. Or you can simply give the character's history, skills, appearance etc, and I'll work out stats based on what you give. If I get too many would-be players, the best (most interesting) six PCs will be used, others will go on a waiting list. Up
