Galaxy game Louisville has come to an end From: Eric Bales <alai@ix.netcom.com> Date: Sun, 18 Jan 1998 00:00:00 +0000 After a very long time, the largest public galaxy game ever has come to an end. Galaxy game louisville (named after the beautiful city of Louisville, Kentucky) started out with 86 players and is, as far as this GM is aware, the largest public galaxy game ever. The game started off with a no-group-victories rule, but as the game neared the 1.5-years mark, I decided to allow that rule to be violated. Therefore, I have allowed a group victory in game louisville. The game lasted for 99 turns and the victors are: Jim Woodward (Aldarions) <jimw@wt.net> Collins Williams (Telepaths) <wmsc@aur.alcatel.com> Tommy Lindqvist (Crippled) <lindqt@space.se> Brian Greenfield (Zombies) <bri@dtseven.demon.co.uk> This victory has been dully noted on my web site, with the victory points split evenly between them. Here is Brian Greenfield aka Zombie's description of the course of the game: Louisville started over a year ago (June 96) with 86 players. Now there are just four left. We have all been allied with each other since March. Others amongst us were allied even before that. As the races fell to our alliance, and others, another, stronger, alliance formed in the West. After border (and not-so-border) skirmishes peace seemed to be with the Galaxy again, with the two powerful alliances maintaining the peace. Then the inevitable happened (of course), and there was war between the two. That was turn 80 (June). The Evil Empire of the West declared war on the Good People of the East. Victory followed victory, as the Western forces were taught the errors of their ways. On turn 99, the last non-alliance worlds were bombed. The Syndicate had completed their mission. Given the length and strength of our alliance, we have no wish to fight it out amongst ourselves, and would like to draw the "Louisville experience" to an end, preferably with the result being recorded as an alliance win. -- alai@ix.netcom.com -Eric Bales- http://www.indyramp.com/harmony/ -The Second Dolphin- Dolphins.
