British Blockade Portugal
A British fleet of 32 ships of the line blockaded the tiny country of Portugal. The Portuguese fleet wisely stayed tied up to the dock in Lisbon rather than engage them.

Foreign Dispatches:
Avingnon:	The Pope placed this historic territory under the protection of the King of France.
Egypt:	The Egyptian ruler gave commands to draft and train the peasantry. It was done.
Genoa:	Sardinian troops absorbed the Free City of Genoa into the Kingdom of Sardinia and Piedmont.
Georgia:	The Khan of Georgia issued corrected maps demonstrating the independence of his country from Russian domination.
Holland:	The Dutch have undertaken a program of fortification building.
Mecklenburg:	The King of Prussia inherited the Duchy after the Duke died Heirless.
Poland:	The Polish monarch pushed through a batch of "reforms" centralizing power in his hands. Many opposing aristocrats were arrested or exiled.
Russia:	The Russian government has reportedly raised another 65,000 men including 16 regiments of Cossacks.
Saxony:	The Duke sends his greetings to the countries of the world and expresses his desire for peaceful relations.
Spain:	Prime Minister Godoy was shot by the King for treason against the state after he was discovered to be the Queen�s lover.
The Swiss:	The Swiss cantons voted to ally themselves with France.
Turkey:	Ottoman janissaries massed on the Russian border. Whether this presages an attack is unclear.
Tuscany:	The Duke allied himself to the King of France.
