The Duke dispatched 800 crossbowmen who fought with 700 defending pirates. Both sides lost half their men and the Duke was forced to call off the attack to await reinforcements. Jun Port Fell to the Order of St. Andrew The city of Jun Port fell to an attack by the Order of St. Andrew. One hundred sworn swordsmen supporting two hundred knights thundered over the f ive defending militia companies of townsmen. However, the militia managed to unhorse and slay half the knights before the charging swordsmen could reach them and turn the tide of battle. Griffin Civil War Rages Three hundred confederate infantry attacked the capital of the Griffin Republic but were driven off by the garrison of two companies of Republican Regulars. The half hearted attack was launched even as negotiations were underway to end the civil war by rival Griffin factions. Yang-Chi Emperor Suicides The young emperor of the Yang-chi was seized by a fit of brain fever and committed seppaku with a pair of chop-sticks. Ming declared victory in the civil war and moved into the imperial palace. He ordered much rejoicing on pain of death. Atlantis Falls to Holy Assault The rebel city of Atlantis fell to an assault by 200 pikemen supported by a company of archers and some Holy Knights. The fighting was fierce and the 400 militiamen sold their lives dearly in bitter street fighting. Flaming Wood Cleansed The Order of the White Phoenix advanced through the Flaming Woods with two companies of men at arms and another of longbowmen led by the hero who torched the Shrine in Farris City last year. They met no organized opposition from the Arch Heretic. Several hundred heretics were captured and burned at the stake. President of the Griffin Republic Goes Mad The President of the Griffin Republic, locked in a war with the Kingdom of Farris, civil war at home and now invaded by the Order of Saint Andrew, disbanded half his army, then recruited it all back at the capital. He also ordered and paid for they laying of the foundation for a great cathedral in the city of Jun Port which his rebels controlled. Sages have no explanation for his bizarre behavior. Bard Bits: An outbreak of Heresy was reported in the Valley of the Possessed. Bellevue constructed a castle in Massacre Woods and the Valley of the Possessed. There was no rejoicing among the peasants at this additional, forced labor. King Kubayek announced an alliance between himself and the Dark Lord and continued construction of the roads from his capital to the border. Midgar constructed castles at Midgar city and in Cosmo Canyon. Large flocks of Chocobos were seen. Mordor began construction of standing stones and a sacrificial altar in the Barrow Downs. Port Ull and the people of the Scraggy Coast rose against the immoral excesses of the Wicked Kubayek. They called for Church supporters in other lands to aid their cause by sending volunteers and money. Silvermoon recruited an army of 800 men for action against their Tax Resistors, more of which arose in Moon Valley. The Coyote people continued their ambitious road building program. The Dark Lord continued construction of a massive fortification dominating the Mountain of Power. The Goblins constructed a beautiful castle in Goblin Valley and a serviceable aqueduct in the Goblin Forest. Their President was re-elected with 72% of the vote. The Knights Templar established an abbey near their headquarters at Masada. The Order of the White Phoenix constructed a castle in Exodus Valley. The people of Nightmare Woods turned against the Dark Lord, chopped down their sacred grove and called on the Goblins and the Jedi for aid against "the forces of darkness." The Yavin Woods have come under the influence of the Dark Side and the inhabitants are refusing to pay their taxes to the Jedi.
