Blind Galaxy 2.47 released From: bampton@interlego.cs.utk.edu (Howard the Energizer) Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 00:00:00 +0000 I've released Blind Galaxy 2.47. It has, as usual, both a number of bug fixes, and some new features. [And do doubt a new bug or two...] Blind Galaxy should compile out of the box, with minimal effort, on: Linux (x86 and Sparc), OpenBSD/NetBSD/FreeBSD Sun4's running SunOS 4.1.3-4.1.4, and Solaris 2.5 or later Ultrix 4.4, IRIX 5.3 and 6.2, AIX 3.2.5, OSF/1 4.0 (sortof), HPUX9.x. A recent version of gcc is expected (2.7.2 or later), although any ansi C compiler is likely to work with some tweaking. A tip of the hat goes to Bernhard Myrnek Schmidt, for some substantial speed improvements in the report writing code. Persons wishing more info should check http://www.cs.utk.edu/~bampton/blind.html These are the significant visible changes between Blind Galaxy V2.46 and V2.47 New options: SYSMASS option shows you the mass of units by player at each system. CARTESIAN option to flip Y axis to normal system. PEDANTIC option (in progress) to warn you of some "mistakes" Command extentions: L command now allows optional amt of cargo to be loaded. K planet war/peace me now supported. GM functionality changes: Massive speedups in fightphase() code- precompute defense values, cache end of shot listing. Massive speedup in battle reporting code for shots fired. OpenBSD, NetBSD, and FreeBSD now supported. GM snooping code for battle/bombing summaries. More buffer overruns removed from code. C/Z/Y commands should now be fully debugged. Forwarding list code works. More balanced BALANCE code. GM full report code now includes uninhabited systems. -- $1000 plus $1 per byte fee for proofing commercial mail sent to me.
