From: dlarson@execpc.com (Dale Larson) Date: Mon, 18 May 1998 00:00:00 +0000 Hi, Beta number 5.08 of the CyberBoard Play-by-EMail system is now available at my web site: http://www.execpc.com/~dlarson/cyberboard.html This version fixes a semi-rare but nasty crash bug in the designer program. If you're designing GameBoxes you should definitely download this new version. See the Web site for details. Enjoy! For those not familiar with CyberBoard a summary follows. ---------- The following lists some of CyberBoard's features: - Emulates real life game components (boards, pieces, markers...). GameBox files hold the boards, pieces, markers etc. Scenario files contain the starting situation of a particular game. Game files hold the current state of a game as well as it's entire history of play. - A game designer program is used to actually design the components of a game. - A game player program is used to create scenarios and actually play the PBEM game. Game Designer Program Features: - Graphical bitmap editor for manipulating tiles. A global transparent color can be defined to allow non-rectangular tiles. - Free form graphics editor for drawing lines, rectangles, ellipses, and polygons. - Each board has three sizes: full scale, half scale and small scale. - Board editing is done on three drawing layers: A grid layer is wedged between two free form drawing layers. - Create two sided playing pieces. - Create graphical marker tiles for marking various things during game play. - Boards can use Hex grids (two varieties), brick grids, and rectangular grids. The grid lines can be hidden. - Snap grids. - Other stuff... Game Player Program Features: - Integrate die roller. - A scenario designer allows you to layout the starting positions of a game and also allows you to define what game boards and playing pieces are to be used. The pieces that are in play are placed in trays or on a board. Trays are defined in the scenarios. All game play start with a Scenario file. - Moves are exchanged in a small recorded move file so they can be EMailed to your opponents. - Auto stacking of pieces. - Flipping two sided pieces. - Rotation of playing pieces for indicating facings. - Compound moves. - Two playing piece tray windows. - A single marker window used to gain access to graphical markers. - Allows plotted moves so your opponents can see exactly the path taken when you moved your pieces. - Text messages can be sent any time while you're recording your moves. - Maintains entire history of a game. - Other stuff...
