Yes, Legends is truly a great game. In an age where we have online
gaming available in real time, I still find Legends a much more
enjoyable use of my time. The many dimensions of strategic possibilities
grow as you involve more players into attacks on enemy positions. For a
long time I played a solo type player, basically taking care of myself
and generally growing my power base. I tried in a new game to be more
diplomatic and work with other players, and I didn't even imagine how
much more you can do, and how many wicked things you can do to an
opponent when you team up 3 on 1. Naturally, you'd think your power
growth would be linear, but it is more logrithmic to exponential when
players work closely together. With that in mind, Legends is a great
game to learn or play lone wolf style, but the masters of strategy move
in packs. I would imagine this makes the game always challenging for
even the experts, since when you deal with other people, you introduce
lots of variables, some good, some bad, and it keeps you on your toes
and makes it fun. The game is just very player competitive at the
greatest levels of enjoyment, in my opinion.  Don't be put off about
joining by yourself, once you get in on a game, start asking questions
and looking for allies on the their listserver, and people are usually
very friendly. The URL listed below is a great primer to get a feel for

Another thought about starting in a game, even joing an existing game to
learn the ropes is a good idea, just select of ask for a very player
empty area, so you can have room to grow, get your legs beneath you, and
then hop into a new game when it starts up (like every 4-6 months) and
then get a fresh start with lots of other people. They just started a
Crown of Chaos 5 game with the US franchise a month ago (it's so popular
there are like 5 or 6 franchises over 5 or 6 countries, most playable
via email, so it's great if you like a particular country's variant
