Adventurer Kings PBeM could be interesting for you. We run games with 7
days turnarounds, though the deadlines usually are 14 days. Game fees
aren't so cheap (about 3 dollars per turn), but you can play a trial game
for free, before joining a regular game. Turn reports are in prose, a
useful GUI is available in several versions (DOS, Windows, Mac), strategy
is great and there is a lot of diplomacy. Tactical events (like duels
against monsters or between characters) are frequent. Also, a mailing list
is available for aficionados.
