Rules of the game (not of World Conquest) From: Mark G Jaede <jaede@acsu.buffalo.edu> Date: Thu, 09 Jul 1998 00:00:00 +0000 Many readers, especially new readers, of this NG may be puzzled by the ongoing exchange under the "World Conquest" thread. It is in fact a play-by Newsgroup game which can be kicked off at a moment's notice and which can be good for weeks or even months of fun. Here's how it is scored: For making a reasoned argument about the dangers of excessive posting of ads, 1 point. For making a reasoned argument about the value of ads to readers, 1 point. For making a snide remark about how your opponent fails to grasp the basics of Usenet, 5 points. For calling your opponent hypocritical, 7 points. For finding quoting a statement in your opponent's message which can be interpreted as self-contradictory, 10-20 points, depending on how tortured the logic of your interpretation is. The more you twist your opponent's words, the higher your score. For denouncing your opponent's use of the previous move, 15-30 points, depending on the degree of personal invective used. Ordinarily the game is played until exhaustion sets in. All rec.games.pbm readers should feel free to join in. Enjoy. Mark -- Mark G. Jaede: jaede@acsu.buffalo.edu Referenced By Up
