Very true.  My roommate just started up a feline in Deathsgate, and he
was also impressed at how effective the Bite skill is.  By the way, he
intends to develop her into a martial artist!  The retractable claws,
the bite, the great dexterity and cunning multiples--felines could be
among the best martial artists out there eventually.  We'll see...

Though it's too early to tell how he compares with others of his power
level, there's a faery named Flinch who just started up in Ciston a
couple of turns ago.  He must have been drinking his own body weight
in dragons blood every day for a year before joining the guild,
because he started out at around a 2500 power level.  Yikes!  That
must have cost an arm and a leg.  We'll see how he does though--I'll
bet his Blink, Distraction, and Blast skills are obscene.  :)

Yeah, I'm hoping that some miniaturized stuff becomes available to
them fairly soon.  I don't think the PC magical research groups have
much reason to develop it though, since the demand will be so
relatively low.  Once a faery gets his strength up a couple of points
past 5 (which will be painful, I admit) he SHOULD be able to carry a
Fostil's Pack, Medallion of Returning, and the odd Protection Gem
without becoming TOO overburdened.  Notice the hopeful tone in my
voice there?  :)

Yep, you can't Blink away from an area effect spell, can you?  Due to
their vulnerability to the One Big Hit I'll bet most faeries will
really try to develop their Combat Sense skill, so they'll have less
chance of getting blindsided in melee.  Otherwise, I'll bet most of
them will just try to stay toward the back of the party, tossing out
spells.  Like you say, no way are they an all-out replacement for
elves, just like felines are not going to replace halflings.  They
share some strengths and a couple of weaknesses, but it seems like
they have their own, distinct roles in the game.  Just as an example:
even though their stamina multiple is a little higher than elves',
they have no maximum starting stamina.  So where an elf has to pay
through the nose to get his stamina up into the 20s, a faery can do it
pretty easily.

I'm just glad we're discussing this stuff in the first place!  I used
to play Duelmasters the Unchanging, and it's a real treat to play a
game that continues to expand and develop as time goes by, y'know?
